Newsletter Engagement

The Newsletter engagement module lets you track and incentivize opens and clickthroughs in your newsletter and email campaigns. Set up multiple email campaigns at once and incentivize different activities for each.

You can find the configuration page of the Newsletter Engagement module by clicking on the ‘Modules’ link in the sidebar, and scrolling down to the ‘Analytics’ module category. The page will open up to a list of newsletter campaigns that have already been set up.

Important!A card will not be generated on the Loyalty Hub when you set up a new newsletter engagement campaign. Please contact your Onboarding Manager if you would like to create a card in the Loyalty Hub.

Setting up campaigns

You can use the Newsletter Engagement module with almost any newsletter provider, or even in emails you send out directly.

  • Click on the ‘Create new campaign’ button.
  • Type the name or unique identifier of your campaign.
  • Select the activities you want to incentivize:
    • “Give points for opening this campaign”
      When selected an invisible tracking pixel will be inserted to your email campaigns. Set the number of points you want to give for opening your newsletter.
    • “Give points for clicking through a link in this campaign”
      When selected your links will be extended with a tracking code. Set the number of points you want to give for clicking through a link in your newsletter.
  • Save your settings.

After saving your settings instructions will appear below the ‘Save’ button, that will explain how to add the tracking pixel to your emails and how to extend outgoing links in the email campaigns you’ve chosen to track.

Editing campaigns

  • Go to the Newsletter Engagement module configuration page
  • Click on the hamburger button and select the ‘Edit’ option
  • Edit your campaign and save your settings

Deleting campaigns

  • Go to the Newsletter Engagement module configuration page
  • Click on the hamburger button and select the ‘Delete’ option
  • Confirm your choice in the appearing dialog.

Best practices

  • Don’t over-reward your customers by running too many campaigns at the same time. We recommend to run a maximum of 2-3 campaigns at any given time. Choose the campaigns that are most valuable to your business.
  • Let your customers know that they can collect points by opening or clicking through newsletters by creating a custom activity with the custom events added in the Challenges module. This way a challenge card will appear on the loyalty hub informing your customers about the opportunity to earn points.
  • Keep two things in mind:
    • The number of points that can be collected should be set in the challenge editor and the point value of the event has to be set to 0 on the Custom events module configuration page. This prevents double-rewarding.
    • If you do not add the campaign and URL attributes to the newsletter tracking and click through events, actions will be rewarded for all your newsletter campaigns. If you want to reward a specific campaign only, you must include the campaign and URL attributes!

Implementing the module

In order to support this module, you need to use the Antavo Loyalty Plugin in your Magento / Magento 2 / Woocommerce store or implement a few changes in your Custom CMS. Besides basic implementation, please follow the additional technical instructions for this module in our developer documentation.
