Fitbit activitites

Introduction

If you want to build a better relationship with customers, you need to fit into their everyday lives. By rewarding active customers for workout activities tracked with Fitbit devices, you’ll become your customers’ new “workout partner” in reaching their fitness goals, and you’ll also be able to constantly engage them outside of the shopping experience.

Sharing customer values is a really important part of creating long-term relationships with your customers. Use our Fitbit module to let your customers know that health and fitness matters to you, too, and start rewarding your customers’ healthy habits.

You can find the configuration page of Fitbit activities module by clicking on the ‘Modules’ link in the top menu bar and then selecting ‘Gamification’ from the list on the left side. First you’ll find the list of your Fitbit activities that are already set up.

Adding a new Fitbit activity

  • Click on the ‘Create Fitbit activity’’ button on the top right-hand side of the Fitbit activities module page
  • Set basic information:
    • Set the name of the activity.
This will appear on the card in the Loyalty Hub.
    • Add a description that helps customers understand what they need to do in order to complete the challenge.
This will appear on the card in the Loyalty Hub.
    • Add a category. You can choose a category from the dropdown menu or create a new one by typing the name of the category into the field.
    • Upload an image.
It must be at least 500*260 pixels in size, so your card will look good on both desktop and mobile devices.
    • Set restrictions:
Here you can limit the availability of the activity in two ways: with a time limit or by making the activity applicable for specific customer segment(s) and/or list(s) only. Let your customers see the restrictions and explain how they can unlock the activity in the ‘Restriction message’ box. Or, if you want to hide the reward from customers who are not a part of the selected segments or lists, tick the box next to ‘Display activity only for the selected segments’. Learn more about segmentation and customer lists here.
  • Fitbit settings: in the second section you can specify the sport activity you want to reward with loyalty points
    • Choose the activity
    • If you want to specify the duration of the activity, tick the box and enter the duration
    • If you want to specify the distance of the activity, tick the box and enter the distance in kilometres
    • If you want to specify the calories a customer need to burn with the activity, tick the box and enter the calories
    • If you want to specify the date when customers can earn points for the activity, tick the box and enter the time period
    • Choose the day on which the customer needs to complete the activity
Keep in mind that if you set more conditions, your customer has to meet them all to earn points.
  • Gamification:
    • Add the number of points you’d like to reward your customers
    • Advanced Settings:
      • Enable repeatability and set an interval in which customers can earn points for completing the activity
      • Enable completion limitation and set how many times can a customer earn points for completing the activity
  • Don’t forget to save the activity with one of these statuses:
    • Active: as soon as you save your activity as ‘Active’, it will appear for your customers as a card in the Loyalty Hub and become completable.
    • Testing: the activity will appear in the Loyalty Hub as a loyalty card, but only admin users can see it.
    • Inactive: the activity will not appear in the Loyalty Hub, and will appear only in the list of FitBit activities in the FitBit activities configuration page.

Best practices

  • Let your customers challenge themselves constantly. Start by setting up easily completable actions (“Run 3 kilometres”) and then set higher and higher goals to achieve. This way you can continually motivate your customers and engage them on the long run.
  • Set clear rules of what exactly your customers have to do to earn points. Notify them about every condition you set at the ‘Fitbit settings’ section in the description.
  • Create categories so that it’s easier for customers to track their advancement.
  • Use the data you collect of their sport activities to send personalized messages and offers. Your customer loves running a lot? She would be pleased by an offer of your thermo running leggings from the latest collection!
